Waiting for you Time will tell us too Don't know how Speak aloud Waiting for you Infinitely unknown One dot standing alone So close, that you are far I know you, but don't know who you are Waiting for you Time will tell us too Light with buzz Night it was Middle of night it was The middle of night it was Infinitely unknown One dot standing alone So close, that you are far I know you, but don't know who you are

Melt 03:08
Baby there you go on your own Wild as dirt everything hurts It’s coming together It’s coming apart Stones they don’t itch they don’t flinch I spend all my time trying to stitch I’ll ride this one out Be someone else but you won’t This twig here grows but it doesn’t know Only as you are, as you are Crumble me into something new Standing in place masked by this face Melt my insides I reside Fragile in form Delicately adorned

Rabbit Hole 02:19
One thought slowly morphing into not And there’s not a floor in which to stand And I’m wondering who’s reality? But this rabbit hole is our new home Obtuse, opaque Not a whole does this make Deconstruct one piece at a time But it never recombines I want to do rid this of my mind But it’s not mine to rid this of Sinking, I'm sinking Deconstruct one piece at a time But it never recombines Absurd, obtuse I try but what’s the use? Beginning or end Is this the beginning or the end?

Maybe Not 03:36
You turn me on but you turn me off I try to care but maybe I don’t You’re wasting all of my time x2 You pull me in but you push me out I try to care but maybe I don’t I’d tell you if I could x2 You’re wasting all of my time x2 You turn me on but you turn me off I try to care but maybe I don’t I’d tell you if I could x2 I would x2

Nowhere 04:25
This feeling is fleeting It’s gone now it’s nowhere this moment is endless it’s ended it’s nowhere like the view from on top now it’s here now its not fall into the void fall into the void I’m wide-eyed I’m glowing It’s fading it’s nothing this moment is endless it ended it’s nothing

Though the hallmarks of slacker rock are worn proudly on Gulch, singer Carl Laukkanen professes a somewhat sweeter, more heartfelt stab at the genre. Yes, the lilting drums and meandering guitar melodies are there, but the suspension of Laukkanen's vocals lift the work into a more celestial terrain. Striking a seamless balance between the catatonic drawl of Acetone and the bouncy maneuvering of The Kinks, Gulch excel at the elements that often lead other 3 piece outfits into a dark well of dissociative rocking. On "In the End", waves of lulling guitar strums give way to the pounding turmoil of those very same waves crashing down. Later on, you get the spastic treatment of "Rabbit Hole" buttressed by the closer, "Nowhere", a study on life's fleetingness as Laukkanen states, "this moment is endless, it ended and it's nothing". On Gulch, you get the feeling of plodding through muddied alleys, the sky clearing above. You get the whole spectrum of the sky...blue patches, blackened clouds, yellow luminescence...all shaping the composite whole. - Sam Wenc

"Portland three-piece Gulch are following up their 2016 self-titled album with (surprise!) an equally great sophomore self-titled. This move in titling makes sense for a band like Gulch, as their singular and steady tunes lend a Zen-like cool and humor to the choppy indie post-punk on display." - Eddie Charlton (Rosey Music)
